The course meets the requirements for high school Spanish 1.

This course fulfills the requirements of the second semester of Spanish 1.

This course  emphasizes a review and extension of the principles taught in Spanish I.  Students are introduced to the new grammatical concepts that are necessary for a more sophisticated understanding of and to better facilitate the use of the language. Emphasis is based on the greater development of basic reading, writing, and oral skills.  The study of the important aspects of Hispanic life and culture are continued, and an ongoing effort is made to develop student’s ability to express ideas in Spanish and to think in the target language, thus preparing the student to be able to communicate in order to satisfy basic needs and to continue with the advanced studies of Pre-AP Spanish III.

Emphasis is placed on increasing the proficiency level of listening and speaking skills through the use of authentic materials.  Directed compositions, study of Hispanic Civilizations, Culture, History, Geography and an introduction to literary analysis are included.

In order to provide the students with the needed tools to successfully continue with the study of AP Spanish IV, this course seeks to develop the four language skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
